Thomas, Donald. Prince Charlie's Bluff
Divergence: 1758 CE
What if: Britain failed to capture (or even attack?) Louisburg in 1758, and a year later saw its
attack on Québec end in disaster when French cavalry attacked from the rear on the
    Plains of Abraham.

was present when Bonnie Prince Charlie arrived in Virginia, there witnessing the prince's
negotiations with French forces threatening to conquer the colony, the prince's coronation
as king of Virginia and the Stuart restoration, and finally the defeat of Hanoverian
    British forces outside Annapolis.
Comments: Subtitled "A Novel of the Kingdom of Virginia" on the hardback dust jacket, but not
    thus anywhere else.
