Chace, James. "The Presidency of Henry Wallace"
Divergence: 1944 CE
What if: Wallace was retained on the Democratic ticket in 1944.
Summary: Essay which argues that although Wallace was a dreamer he wasn't a fool, and so some form of Cold War would have developed as he would would not have laid down before the Soviets. However, his presidency might well have been shot down in 1948 due to unwise selections for his Cabinet.
